SUMMARY
In Queensland our scientists are international leaders at the forefront of many breakthroughs and discoveries that make a difference to the wellbeing of individuals and communities locally, nationally and internationally.
To help continue this trend and encourage innovation and collaboration between women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) research we are launching the Women in STEM competition. This competition is open to female researchers and students in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics only.
While the aim of the competition is to uncover bright ideas that align with Queenslands Science and Research Priorities and have the potential to benefit Queenslanders, we want to develop your communication and engagement skills through the application process.
Enhancing these skills will help you to create awareness for your research, achieve recognition, identify opportunities for collaboration and gain funding for your future research projects.
The Women in STEM competition offers two prizes of $5000. A panel of accomplished judges will nominate a winner for the Jury Award and the public can vote to select the Peoples choice award winner. The prize money is to go towards professional development, conference attendance or your research project.
The competition is supported by the World Science Festival Brisbane, and the Queensland Governments Office for Women and Office of the Queensland Chief Scientist.
Applicants submissions will be showcased during the World Science Festival to celebrate and recognise women in STEM research. Good luck with your application!
